ACRP 2026

The programme funds excellent climate research that generates scientific knowledge for informed decision-making in climate change mitigation and adaptation. By supporting research across a broad range of climate-related topics, ACRP strengthens the scientific foundation for policy development and implementation in Austria. The programme also advances research on pressing climate challenges, helping to identify solutions that enable Austria to adapt more effectively to climate change and enhance its resilience.

The 19th Call focuses on three thematic areas:

• Understanding the climate system and the consequences of climate change
• Specific support for Austria’s policymakers
• Transformative change

In the 19th Call, applicants can choose between two project formats: compact projects, with a maximum duration of 24 months and funding of up to EUR 240,000, and extended projects, with a maximum duration of 36 months and funding between EUR 240,000 and EUR 340,000. Both formats are available across all thematic areas and differ primarily in the scale and scope of the proposed research.
